Print Textbooks on Reserve Policy

In the past, the Berkeley Libraries strove to have a copy of every textbook in use in current courses on Reserve in the Library, and we still have many of them. So if you had forgotton your textbook or did not want to carry it to school one day, it could be used in the library under the following conditions:

      (1)   A textbook may be borrowed for up to two hours for Library Use only.

      (2)   A borrower may check out one textbook at a time.

      (3)  Textbooks may be borrowed with a valid Berkeley College ID card with

                  Library barcode.

      (4)  Photocopying is limited by copyright law.  This is not Berkeley College law-

it is the United States Code that governs the reproduction, distribution,

adaptation, public performance, and public display of copyrighted materials.

For more on this subject see Title 17 of the United States Code.

       (5)  The Library staff will not reproduce and provide in any format textbook content.

       (6)  Please do not make markings of any kind (highlight, underline) in library

                   provided textbooks.

       (7) Removing a library textbook from the premises or deliberately removing pages

                   will result in disciplinary action.

Because Berkeley has switched to mostly Digital Learning Resources, including online textbooks (eTexts) that are embedded in Blackboard, we now only purchase print textbooks if they are requested by faculty or students. But they still can only be used in the library.
