Grants & Scholarships
A scholarship is a monetary award used towards education. Scholarships do not have to be repaid, however they are awarded based on certain criteria that must be achieved.
There are a variety of different types of scholarships:
- need-based scholarships which are usually based on income;
- merit-based scholarships which are based on academic and sometimes other achievements;
- association or organization-based scholarships offer aid for infinite reasons which is why their requirements and specifications vary.
The Searching for Scholarships tab above offers resources which contain links to millions of different association or organization-based scholarships. There are scholarships awarded for woman, for minorities, for athletes, for students pursuing a specific career, scholarships based on talent, community service and much more.
A grant is also a monetary award which does not have to be repaid, usually granted by the federal government based on economic need. The most common grant is the Pell Grant.
