What is the NCLEX? - Developed by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) is designed to test the competency of nursing school graduates.
Why must I take the exam? - The NCLEX is designed to access whether a candidate has the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide safe and effective nursing care at the entry level.
What are the eligibility requirements? - Candidates must meet specific educational and application requirements to be eligible for the NCLEX.
What is the difference between the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN? - The NCLEX-RN (the exam for Registered Nurses) and NCLEX-PN (the exam for Practical Nursing) are very similar in structure and format.
How is the NCLEX scored? - The grading is based on a pass/fail system.
How are items scored? NCLEX items have multiple item formats. There is partial credit scoring for items for which more than one key exists. There are three methods for scoring items for partial credit: plus/minus, zero/one, and rationale scoring.
Does the NCLEX exam have a section for Math? - The math part of the exam includes basicarithmetic and pharmacology calculations, primarily focused on medication dosage calculations and conversions.
