The IRS site includes all sorts of documents relating to the taxing of America. This site tends to be slow to load. Whenever possible, select the "text-only version" to speed it up. It is possible to download tax forms and instructions in PDF format from this site. There are links to about 40 of the state tax sites, some of which also provide downloading forms.
The Bureau of Fiscal Service is a section of the U.S. Treasury Department. Information is available on the U.S. public debt, State and Local Government Series, T-Bill and Savings Bond information and Consumer Fraud Information.
The information available includes historical information, duties and strategic plan of the department and it's Bureaus and offices, business tax, contracting and procurement, importing/exporting, and EIN numbers..
Yahoo! Finance contains daily historic stock price data. Enter a company's ticker symbol and then select Historical Prices. Only currently active companies are available.
Accounting and Financial Reporting Guidance:
Accounting offices at the SEC are organized such that the Commission has an Office of the Chief Accountant that is responsible for establishing and enforcing accounting and auditing policy. It is a nonpartisan committee of the United States Congress, with an experienced professional staff of economists, attorneys, and accountants, that assists Members of both houses of Congress on tax legislation.
Chief Financial Officers Council (CFO):
It is an organization of the CFOs and Deputy CFOs of the largest Federal agencies, senior officials of the Office of Management and Budget, and the Department of the Treasury who work collaboratively to improve financial management in the U.S. Government. (From website)
