Welcome to the National Distance Learning Week 2024

 

Purpose:

The purpose of National Distance Learning Week (NDLW) is to generate greater awareness and appreciation for distance learning, including K-12, Higher Education, Corporate and Military, while recognizing leaders and best practices in the field.

Goal:

For schools, colleges, and corporations to conduct local events during NDLW to celebrate and promote the field of online learning.

Awards & Recognition

Berkeley College Online Campus has been delivering online courses since 1998

Below is a some data about the Berkeley College Online:

  • Berkeley College Online® was recently recertified by the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) for the Quality Standards Certification, a recognition given to institutions and educational providers that meet excellence in 91 best practice standards for distance learning, organized into the following areas:

  • Administration, leadership, and management
  • Student affairs
  • Teaching and learning
  • Learning infrastructure
  • As the first and only online program in New York and New Jersey to achieve this status, USDLA/QS certification places Berkeley College Online® among an elite group of institutions recognized for excellence in distance learning. Berkeley College Online® is proud to have achieved and retained USDLA/QS certification and remains committed to providing outstanding career-focused distance learning.

  • Berkeley College first began offering accredited online degrees in 2003; there were 49 students enrolled then. Fall 2023 undergraduate enrollment is 1,481 students.
  • Berkeley College first began offering an accredited online MBA program in 2016. Fall 2023 online MBA enrollment is 134 students.
  • 2,911 undergraduate students (85%) are enrolled in at least one online class in Fall 2023. 136 (74%) graduate students are enrolled in at least one online class in Fall 2023.
  • Number of online courses at Berkeley College in 2007 – 50; in 2023 – 274
    • Undergraduate: 258 undergraduate courses, more than 459 sections, with 232 faculty teaching online courses.
    • Graduate: 16 graduate courses, 22 sections, with 14 faculty teaching online courses.
  • Berkeley College Online® students have access to the same support services as students who attend on-site, i.e., Advisement, Library, Center for Academic Success, and Career Services.
  • Online campus life experiences include online clubs, social media engagement, wellness and personal development programs, and workshops focusing on student success.
  • Berkeley College Online® attracts a diverse student body comprised of working parents, grandparents, young adults managing work and studies, and those actively serving in the military.
  • 36.9% of undergraduate students are ages 22 to 29; 33.6% are 30 to 39 years of age; and 18.7% are age 40 and older. 32.3% of graduate students are ages 22 to 29; 42.4% are 30 to 39 years of age; and 23.3% are age 40 and older.
  • 56.2% of Berkeley College Online® undergraduate students are enrolled full-time.
  • 78.8% of Berkeley College Online® graduate students are enrolled part-time.
  • 76.9% of Berkeley College Online® undergraduate students are female. 72.7% of Berkeley College Online® graduate students are female.
  • Fall 2023 top Berkeley College Online® programs by enrollment:
    • Bachelor's degree programs: Health Services Management, 3D Digital Visualization, Management, Justice Studies – Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, Accounting, Business Data Science, Financial Services, Graphic Design, Information Technology Management, Interior Design, International Business, General Business, followed by Marketing Communications and Fashion Merchandising and Management. 
    • Associate's degree programs: Accounting, Fashion Merchandising and Management, Financial Services,  Interior Design, International Business, Health Services Administration – Medical Insurance, Billing, and Coding; Management; Justice Studies – Criminal Justice; Health Services Administration; Legal Studies; Information Technology Management; followed by Accounting.
