Borrowing Library Material

All Berkeley College faculty, students, and associates are automatically registered for library services. Your ID number is your library ID number and your library PIN number consists of the last four digits of your ID.

All currently enrolled students, faculty, full and part-time employees of the College, active or emeritus Board members, alumni, and registered members of a VALENJ Reciprocal Borrowing Library are permitted to borrow materials from our Libraries.

Please check this to learn about loan periods.

What is ILL?
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a means of sharing resources between libraries. Through the Berkeley College Libraries's ILL service, you have access to books, articles, and other items not available in our collection or databases. When you request an item, we send your request to other libraries that participate in ILL. If the item is available, they will mail us the book or send electronic copies of articles. Please give requests one to two weeks to be fulfilled.

There are two types of ILLs:

1. Intra-library loan: An item borrowed from another Berkeley College campus library.

To check the status of a intra-library loan borrowed from another Berkeley college campus library:

  • Go to the Library website from Engage
  • Click on Library Catalog tile.
  • Login into your account using your Faculty ID number as your Library ID/username and the last four digits of your Faculty ID as your PIN.
  • Click on Account and Holds to view item status.

2. Inter-library loan: An item borrowed from outside Berkeley College library systems, based on our reciprocal borrowing agreements with OCLC WorldShare, Jersey Cat for NJ residents, or METRO for NY residents. If you need to check the status of the item borrowed from another academic or public library, please contact your campus librarian.

Please note that there is no charge for either service.
