AECT (2007) defined educational technology as:

" Educational technology is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes and resources."

Educational Technology: A Definition with Commentary edited by Al Januszewski & Michael Molenda

When using educational technology, most often, it is the "pedagogy that is the driver and technology is the accelerator." Michael Fullan's insightful analogy helps us think about best practices related to the use of educational technology. In most instances, it is best to think of the pedagogy first - What do you want students to learn? Then think - Which technologies can I use to facilitate the learning?

The CCIT team is here to support and empower faculty's strategic implementation of educational technology aligned with learning objectives. We develop and provide professional learning and offer support to individuals and groups who want to learn new strategies for infusing digital technologies into instruction. If you are looking for inspiration or if you want to discuss ways to increase the impact of your course design using different tools, please contact us!
